About the Program

The Farm Animal Social Program is an 8-week supported program for adults with disabilities. Sessions run for 2 hours each week from 9:30am to 11:30am every Thursday. Learn to care for animals in a supportive setting with friends.

We also have support workers available to pick up and drop home clients for the program.

The program includes:

  • Interaction and education on farm animals including chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, pigs, rabbits and sheep
  • Learn to feed, care and groom farm animals
  • Learn about animal breeding and food production
  • Learning new skills
  • Meet new friends
  • Gain confidence
  • Become part of a family and community
  • Social skills and working in a team
  • A fun and friendly environment

Pricing

$480 per term (8 weeks)

$80 for a casual visit

This includes:

  • ✓ Entry for you and your support worker
  • ✓ Drink (tea, coffee or cold can drink)
  • ✓ Farm coordinator who runs each session

Minimum numbers need to be met for the program to go ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What about bathrooms?

We have a portaloo available and also a toilet inside the house for anyone with accessibility difficulties.

Is food and drink provided?

Fresh water is available, along with refreshments.

What happens if it rains?

Most times we will still go ahead under a covered seating area. If the weather is torrential we will message and advise that the program isn't on prior to 8:30am.

Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit for the program.

Do I need a support worker?

Clients are required to bring their support worker or carer. The Davis Farm also has support workers available to pick up and drop home — please contact us for more details.

What time does the program run?

Every Thursday from 9:30am to 11:30am (2 hours per session) across the 8-week term.
